No One. This is a problem. About 6 months ago, the PRO's reached out on social media to get some guinea pigs to send in their original ATE or ZF steering boxes so that the PRO's can dive right in and figure out everything. This steering box is NOT an OUTRIGHT available purchase. This is a service....but the more you read, the more you will understand what value you are getting with this service. Once an order is placed, the PRO's will mail out a custom made shipping box with foam inserts to protect each end of your steering box. This shipment will also include a prepaid shipping label along with insurance ($1000) to send it back to us. (Side Note - all but one of the 5 guinea pig clients who sent in their cores had damage on the threads of steering shaft and the packaging on 4 of the 5 was not even double corrugated card board. So to ensure we get them in the best possible condition, sending you the correct box and packaging is necessary). The steering box will be tagged to the client and broken down to the last piece. Each piece will be hand cleaned, inspected for wear and accessed for use. The steering column will be pressed out of the case, sand blasted, powder coated silver beige and a new steering shaft bearing will be pressed in. The steering box case will be sand blasted, bearing surfaces cross hatched, outer case cleaned up and deburred, tapped up, powder coated satin black. The steering box cover, if not corroded, will be sand blasted, deburred and oil soaked. If the original cover is not usable, a new hard anodized billet cover will be used. A rebate will ensue if the OEM version is used.An all new thrust plate/horn wire tube and routing cover will be installed. This plate will be thicker than normal to allow the hardware to be counter sunk into the plate along with bump ridges in case of rubbing obstacles. This will be made out steel and gun blued. The steering shaft worm gear will be checked for straightness, polished, threads will be chased with new spring, cotter key and nut. If the shaft is bent, the shaft will be true when it leaves. A new horn wire will be included and routed through the new guard and will have an OEM crimp connection on both sides. The worn and roller will be audited for condition and reused. It parts are unusable, addition cost to replace will be added based on availability and market rate. New seals, gaskets and stainless steel hardware will be used through out. If the steering mount is sent in along with the box, it will be cleaned, sand blasted, deburred and powder coated and reassembled. Included in the purchase is shipping in the lower 48 states back to you. If you are counting, that is three shipping charges included in this purchase, which is FREE. Key features of this transaxle are 3.88 Ring and Pinion, overdrive 4th, along with new synchros, bearings and seals in a rebuilt SASS 12 volt platform. It comes with welded gears, steel shift forks, super diff and heavy duty side plate. All transaxles that come from the PRO's are 12 volt and do not come with OIL. The PRO's recommend This oil from LAT or this on Amazon. You will need 3.5 quarts normally. No Core is Needed. The PRO's offer a few different transaxle's with different axle lengths. This allows us to fit wheels with different offsets onto cars where as they wouldn't normally fit. So it is recommended you pick out your wheels first, run it by the PRO's to see what axle length makes sense, then choose a Cruiser application, (Freeway Flyer) or Performance application (not racing but more aggressive driving). This is a service of your existing pedal assembly, meaning it can not be purchased outright, no exceptions. It is built on LHD (Left Hand Drive) only. Once purchased, the PRO's will email you a prepaid shipping label to pay for the shipping of your pedal assembly. You can then drop it off at your local FedEx DropOff location or a Walgreens location near you. Once received, the PRO's will disassemble the pedal assembly and Ammonia Dip all the components to see the conditions of all parts received. If replacement parts are needed, these parts will be an additional cost. Pedal bushings, spring, pads and hardware are included in the purchase of this service. The OEM Clutch Lever will be reused if possible. If not, a replacement clutch shaft will be supplied with the purchase. All steel parts will be powder coated satin black and the pedal base will be smoothed out, bead blasted and oil soaked for a clean, sano, finish. An option will be to install a early style cruiser pedal to replace the terrible factory pedal option. All standard steel parts will be gun blued. New Cables are optional. Pictures shown are from our Chassis Builds and only include what is listed above.
